Goals

The course is a part of the follow-up trainings on IPv6, its aim is to familiarize participants with the principles of the upcoming communication standard mainly from the theoretical point of view. After completing this course the student is able to configure IPv6 on the most used OS - Windows XP, Windows 7 and Linux.

+ IPv4 History & Address exhaustion - motivation for IPv6, new features in IPv6+ Header Format - IPv4 & IPv6 header comparison, extension headers, header chaining+ Addressing - IPv6 address format, link-local, global, multicast, anycast, unique local addresses, interface identifiers , EUI64, privacy extension+ Neighbor Discovery - ICMPv6, Solicited-Node Multicast Address, Neighbor solicitation, duplicate address detection, stateless, autoconfiguration, router solicitation, renumbering+ IPv6 in Cisco IOS - basic IPv6 configuration on Cisco routers, co-operation with the hosts+ IPv6 on Hosts - IPv6 configuration on Windows XP, Window 7 and Linux

Prerequisites

Elementary knowledge of internetworking, TCP/IP, IPv4, basic knowledge of the Windows family operating systems - Windows XP or Windows 7.Participants can bring their own laptop and try setting IPv6 within their own operating systems, preferably Windows 7, Windows Vista or XP. To set up the IPv6 parameters, the administrative rights are necessary.

For the on-site training, participants will receive a printed version of the study materials.For the online training, participants will receive access to an electronic version of the study materials.
